Erasmus Mundus is an European Community Action programme which seeks primarily to enhance the quality of European higher education world-wide, and secondly to promote intercultural understanding between Europe and third (non-EU) countries. The Erasmus Mundus programme supports top-quality Masters Courses offered by European university consortiums, and provides EU-funded scholarships.
By enabling students and visiting scholars from around the world to engage in postgraduate study at European universities, Erasmus Mundus intends to prepare the participants for life in a global, knowledge-based society.

The ME3 programme has received the financial support from the European Commission within the Erasmus Mundus programme for its editions 2007-2009 until 2011-2013. This period of financial support is now over. Therefore, the ME3 programme does not beneficiate from Erasmus Mundus scholarships for its 2012-2014 edition. However, ME3 has been evaluated by the European Commission as a programme of excellence, and therefore ME3 keeps the Erasmus Mundus label to attest this.
The ME3 consortium will offer a few excellence scholarships for the edition 2012-2014. See Excellence scholarships
