For study option A, students spend the 1st semester studying Foundations in Management at UPM in Madrid, Spain.The 2nd semester is spent studying Chemical and Environmental Process Engineering at Queen's University of Belfast. The 3rd semester of coursework consists of studies in Eco-efficiency and Energy Process Engineering at Ecole de Mines in Nantes, France.

As with all ME3 options, the final semester is spent completing a 6-month internship, culminating with a master's thesis. Study option A results in a double-degree from UPM-QUB.
