From AtlanMod
Temporary Research Positions
Apart from announcements of specific job positions on this page, the AtlanMod team is open to requests for temporary research positions (i.e., student internships, prospective Ph.D. students, post-doctoral researchers, and/or research engineers). Prior experience with Eclipse Modeling technologies, such as EMF, Ecore, ATL, AMW, AM3, and MoDisco is an important asset. Postdocs must hold a Ph.D. degree in computer science or a related field and have a solid research background on Model-Driven Engineering topics. If you are interested, please send us an email with your current resume to atlanmod-positions@mines-nantes.fr.
INRIA Post-doctoral Research Fellow in Model-Driven Engineering
"Modeling in and for the Cloud" — The post-doctoral research is placed in the context of studying the relationship between Model-Driven Engineering (MDE) and Cloud Computing. MDE is a Software Engineering (SE) paradigm that advocates for the rigorous use of software models as the main artifacts in all SE activities. Early adopters of MDE have already reported improvements in the productivity and quality of their development processes. At the same time, Cloud Computing is a computational model in which applications, data, and IT resources are provided as services to users over the Internet.
In his/her work, the post-doctorate researcher will investigate the synergies between the two paradigms both studying:
1 - How Modeling and MDE can improve the development of cloud applications (Modeling for the cloud), e.g., by using model-driven reverse engineering techniques to extract models out of legacy software and then employing model transformations to "modernize" these models to facilitate the regeneration of the software under a cloud computing architecture or building bridges to enable the interoperability between different cloud vendors.
2 – How cloud computing can improve the scalability of MDE techniques by acting as a new infrastructure for the execution of MDE techniques, e.g., by enabling the parallel execution of model transformations on large models loaded on a set of virtual nodes within the cloud.
We believe that advances on these topics will have a direct impact on the successful adoption of MDE and the full realization of its many potential advantages for technology provider.
